Trump: No, you’re being naive, people have to learn. You can’t take someone from the unemployment line and say I’m going to put you into a factory and say we’re going to make missiles or batteries
My Thoughts:
This to me is not that big of a deal and I agree with Laura in theory and what she says, but I agree with Trump overall because I understand how H-B1 visa’s will work. Trump didn’t explain this well enough though. So allow me.
President Trump’s new annual fee per H-1B visa worker, requires employers to pay $100k for EACH foreign worker they hire, EVERY YEAR.
The policy incentivizes hiring U.S. talent, and greatly reduces the risk of companies exploiting H-1B visas to undercut domestic wages.
So highly skilled workers will be brought in to train Americans on certain things. Like Trump says… This applies across the board for every major company. They have to decide, is the value of this immigrant worker worth my company paying $100k a year? In most cases, the answer will be no. Some yes..
It discourages frivolous visa applications, ensuring only high-value talent is sponsored in critical areas, while training up and incentivizing American workers..
The fee, applied to the annual H-1B visas, could also generate billions in revenue for the United States.
