CHRISTIAN?
The term Christian is widely used among many nations and people. It is apparent that the term does not mean the same thing to all those who employ it. The following, it is hoped, will enable a more constant and correct meaning for that term.
Generally a Christian is a person who believes in the existence of and follows the teachings of Christ. That brings us to the question of, “What is a Christ?” There are different answers to this question also, but generally, Christ is viewed as a particular person, who has been endowed with divine authority in the task of enabling mortal individuals to obtain and maintain the path to immortality and eternal life.
Immortality is easy, it means, no longer subject to physical death. After the termination of the mortal period, that is, after the mortal body is separated from the consciousness and spirit body, that physical body dies. Eternal Life is only a little more complicated. First we need to know that the intelligence / consciousness of an individual person continues to exist even when it is separated from its physical body. We need also to understand that the individual personal intelligence even after separation from the mortal physical body continues to posses a spiritual body.
There is a very different process, that will occur after the mortal death, which process is called, resurrection. In the resurrection the intelligence with its spirit body is provided with a new physical body which is not subject to death. This gift is free to every person who has lived on this world in its mortal state. There is another, infinitely greater gift that is provided to those persons who are deemed worthy of it, which is called Eternal Life.
Every person who obtains an immortal body will live in that physical immortal body through all eternities. However, only those who are deemed worthy, by the Christ, will obtain the gift of living in company with God, our eternal Father, Christ, our Savior, our eternal family, our own spouse, our for-bearers and our progeny, through all the infinite eternities.
Therefore the term, “Christian”, actually means, a person who desires to become worthy and is willing to work through this mortal life in a way by which they may become worthy of Eternal Life as defined above. Christ is the guide, helper and final judge of the individual worthiness of every individual who has passed through this mortal life.
