Self-Reflection Time [20]: A Reply to…Project Looking Glass: The Integration of Extraterrestrials into Society on Earth

Project Looking Glass: The Integration of Extraterrestrials into Society on Earth

Regret the delayed reply but life challenges and focus can sometime fully capture one’s attention.

So let me get this straight, the Alliance is looking for scenarios to feed project looking glass in order to see a way forward regarding the integration of ETs into Earth society.  

Interesting! There are only two scenarios where this would be the case…the AI ain’t cutting it or they can’t see a clean way to make it happen and need help.

The first part of my response won’t directly provide an answer; however, it is designed to illicit thought / thinking.  The last part of my response may be more helpful.  So many questions and factors need to be addressed appropriately before a set of contexts can be developed to enable said objective.  I will also weave in a set of context that may help.

First point…

Why integrate ET’s into Earth society?  Who benefits?  Any fool will look for the self-benefits  (use cases benefiting themselves and the other parties they like); however, what are the detriments to all parties (the “a---e cases” if you will).  Balance in the Universe will always happen.  For every good that is introduced, an equal but opposite evil is introduced somewhere else.  In short, what are the downsides?

The thought that immediately came to my mind was Alexander’s campaign into Afghanistan and the story of the building of roads.  For those not aware…allow me to “liberally” summarize the story…Alexander of Macedonia (en route to India) campaigned through Afghanistan and fought the locals with some initial success.  Fighting paused and he initiated a civil engineering road project (introducing new technology) before the winter months whereby he paid the local Afghans to build a road from their remote mountain villages into the valley population centers; his intention was to provide value to the remote locals with the belief that he would be “well thought of” and his troops would be better accepted.  He also did the same for population centers with better results.  From Alexander’s perspective, the roads to remote villages allowed the locals to connect with the rest of society, bringing technology to the distant ends; essentially, a win-win from Alexander’s perspective.

Steven Pressfield captured a large chunk of what I’m trying to convey about the Afghan perspective…on his website:

“Our troops were up against tribalism in its purest form, just like Alexander. And tribalism, it turns out, is a helluva fighting concept and produces warriors whose own primitiveness is their greatest strength.

‘You may defeat us,’ a council of tribal chieftains told Alexander in 329 BCE, ‘but you will never defeat our poverty.’”

Most people will not understand the Afghan perspective…clearly, the Russian and the US didn’t.  My read on the Afghan perspective is that no one wants extreme poverty which is quite a character building tool.  Thus, any conflicts with those in extreme poverty over a hostile terrain are doomed to eventual failure.  Which means it is only a matter of time before the Afghans will be free again in their extreme poverty, but free nonetheless from those who would covet their resources or power over their people.  There is an Afghan saying…“you may have the watches, we have the time.”

Personally, I think Alexander didn’t want to have to fight an insurgent war on his return trip through Afghanistan back to present day Iraq; my thoughts.  I digress.  Bottomline is that the roads were built, Alexander was told that the project was completed, and winter set-in, which caused daily life activity stoppage until spring.  When spring happened, Alexander took a trip to survey the built roads to the remote villages.  He found all the roads destroyed.  He was in utter disbelief and demanded from the locals to know who would do such a thing.  The locals (who were paid to build those roads) indicated that they were the ones who destroyed the roads.  Then the natural question…”Why?”  The locals indicated that roads are two ways…they make it easier for the locals to travel from their remote door step to population centers; And, from their perspective, the roads make it easier for the population to come to their remote door step.  For these locals, the roads made it easier for threats (to their way of life) to be brought directly to their door; whereas, previously, the difficulties of the trek to and from their village weeded out the lazy evil intentioned travelers not willing to undergo such hardships.

Point two…

So, let’s say you get to the locals doorstep; now what?  Consider the American example.  I can’t recall an ethnic group who came to America that was not discriminated against by the locals before they were accepted.  At the time, the actual type of discrimination used by the locals was a function of character and geography of the local discriminator.  Not all discriminators are alike, fortunately/unfortunately.  Intelligent discriminators exercised discrimination against character and habits of character usually because the terrain was harsh and life / death scenarios were a constant (think Alaska or Montana or Wyoming or the Dakotas at the turn of the 20th Century.  Ignorant discriminators exercised discrimination against attributes that the individual couldn’t change such as skin color, or height or other bodily attributes. 

Now, think turn of the 20th century, Ellis Island NY Harbor, Europeans, etc where the road to America was long and arduous…and then fast forward to NOW, with the ease of access to America.  Consider this…Which American discriminates against Irish or Italians or other Europeans because of their ethnicity in today’s world?  They all went through the blood and g--e phase before everybody got tired of the blood and g--e and moved on in their minds to something more productive such as…are these newbies good people who have your back simply because you are their neighbor?  

Yes, discrimination against newer ethnicities exists today but the “old salts” ethnicities have proved themselves worthy of respect through demonstrated character, competence, capability, good judgment, and self-control.  

Amazingly…We, in America, had the “alien integration into society” almost down to a process taking a little less than one generation.  The powers that be lost their preferred chaos of initial integration; thus, they lost the opportunity for power over the immigrants as the immigrants integrated into society consistently.  What was the solution to this “Evil” integration…well demonize the locals and inject more chaos…because, you know, you can’t be the savior bringing order out of order…to be the political savior you have to have chaos in order to bring “order out of chaos.”  What ignorant buffoons!  Or, as someone once told me because they didn’t hear when I uttered the word buffoon…Ignorant Baboons!  I’m sure there are some are that, as well.  All things are possible out of chaos; even failure.

So, how do you create chaos when it looks like the locals are settling into an orderly process?  Change criterion so that the opportunity to inject chaos into order is possible.  IDEOLOGIES: The powers that be tried to inject ideologues as a mechanism but were defeated; eventually, everyone realized that being a communist meant you had nothing and were completely controlled by the powers that be…but, YOU weren’t one of the powers that be.  Pick an “-ISM” (Communism, Socialism, Capitalism, Judaism, Marxism, Z-----m, patriotism, liberalism, nationalism, collectivism, and totalitarianism, among others) all eventually failed to create or will fail to create sustained harmony within the populace…because they all enforced the underlying theme of “haves” versus “have nots”…the “competent” versus the “incompetent.”  But, who defines these terms?  All of the “ISMs” altered the discrimination criterion from respect (character) to ignorance (competence)…it’s tough TO KNOW… especially when you’ve been indoctrinated NOT TO KNOW…and where there is incompetence there are giant mental and emotional leaps made to equate competence to intellect and intellectual capacity.  I assure you, intellect and competence are mutually exclusive and don’t necessarily equate.  I’ve met many on the battlefield who were illiterate in their own language but managed to figure out how to create effective IEDs from ordinary trash and discarded items.

Thus, in today’s world the locals discriminate against others based on the “ideology of ignorance” under the guise of the “PROGRAM OF THE HOUR”…DEI (Diversity, equity, and inclusivity); after all, ignorant people are people too!  Many buy the bumper sticker without applying a little discovery to understand the “WHY” this program and “WHY NOW?”  But, the true colors of this DEI program are underpinned by a relative definition of knowledge.  There’s a whole cottage industry of contractors who are “creating” the “knowledge” for the powers that be to manipulate for control.  I guess the powers that be realize too many have discovered the ISMs and the power they were designed to elicit.  Their greatest nightmare was that we woke up to the control system they were overlaying onto our lives.  Some still are learning about this control system and ALL will eventually reject this social control system because it adds no value to our daily lives and ability to survive.

Point three…

If there is a disparity of ignorance between the locals and the immigrants, there is discrimination.  And, to add salt to the wounds, locals discriminate against other locals based on that same ideology of ignorance…like discrimination based on height or eye color or ethnicity.  Ahhh…there’s nothing like consistency!!!  Von Moltke you were so right!!!  Helmut Von Moltke created assessment criterion for role selection of officers.  Graphic can be found here: https://old-soldier-colonel.blogspot.com/2011/07/field-marshal-moltkes-four-types-of.html 

What people don’t realize is that discrimination based on character forces the alien population to prove themselves.  The right path to integration starts with selection based on character then merit (competence, capability, good judgment) then self-control (mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual).   This isn’t a do as I say, not as I do scenario as WE humans aren’t even doing this within our own ranks.

What I’m trying to convey, albeit perhaps with some unnecessary words, is that until humanity has institutionalized selection based on character…then merit (competence, capability, good judgment)…then self-control (mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual) within our own societies then I’m afraid the best that ETs can hope for at this time is jut to visit and not openly “live” here among us.

Humans are tribal and tribes have discriminating methods to prove worthiness and to earn respect and acceptance within the tribe.  Most people do not have varying levels of respect and acceptance.  The closest institution that have rules governing discrimination, respect, and acceptance is the Military.  

So, Mr./Ms. Alien…you want to prove to us you are worthy…what are you willing to die for?  What are you willing to risk death for?  Is the defense of safety, security and survival of the humans around you…to you…worth dying for?  What about the children and the sick and the elderly?  Would you risk it all to protect them?

What do you respect?  How do you demonstrate that respect?  I assure you that character matters more than material things (technologies, money, assets, etc.).  No one can buy more character; but, they can buy the other things.

The point here is perspective, values, character, and demonstration of worth / merit.  Rational humans will follow a worthy leader of character; they will NOT follow someone who presents an unabashed nefarious character, even if the individual presents competence and capability.

If aliens wish to integrate, perhaps they start with planned visits as “guests” helping humanity integrate advanced technology into daily survival efforts…what do we need…food, water, shelter, transportation, clean free energy.  

Let’s look at the recent past…it is kind of like Jim Humble going to Africa and helping local villages improve quality of life through building water wells and water purification systems…and, then in subsequent trips helping to advise the locals on how to perhaps implement some of that technology in differing ways to further improve quality of life…perhaps in the health arena.

Once society has returned to a worthy standard for quality of life then work on mutual cooperation initiatives in other areas of the universe…maybe one of the other 176 areas or further out.

Respect is a two way street.  If the ETs don’t respect humans for what they bring to the table then there will be that ignorant disparity which will cause conflict and friction vice cooperation and harmony.
