Check state law, as I learned years ago that Alaska Statutes specify that as long as one party to a conversation approves of the conversation being recorded, it is legal to do so. Court decisions have recognized that two-way telephone conversations can legally be recorded, when approved by the one party doing the recording at their end.
Emails have long been considered similar to telephone conversations, as etiquette dictates similar response times as telephone conversations. Either party to an email conversation may choose to delete or keep the record.
I agree with your sentiment in the original post, as I continue to retain my negotiation notes as a former/retired volunteer shop steward working toward our unit’s first Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). 16 years shop steward, 11 years dues-paying member (It took that long to get to the first CBA, a state record, but I applaud my cohorts in our unit for staying “all in.”
WWG1WGA… Do not lament the “free rider problem” as bringing those along for the ride breeds friendship, neighborliness and kindness to our world.
