A Watchdog Takes the CBI

By Reset Intelligence | @EXIT_FIAT

The world spent this week watching a peace deal come apart. The move that decides the dinar happened quietly in Baghdad, and almost no one reported it.

Iraq handed its central bank to a man who spent his career hunting dirty money.

The Watchdog Takes the Central Bank

In a single day, Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi filled the central bank, the National Investment Commission, and two security posts, then took personal charge of the last cabinet seats. Iraqi press identify the incoming central bank governor as the man who ran the bank’s anti-money-laundering office. You do not move the fraud desk into the top chair by accident. You learn what a central bank is about to do from who they put in the chair.

Cleaned Inside, Squeezed Outside

The same day, the US Treasury named a Hezbollah financial network running through Lebanon, Syria, Oman, and Iraq, and sanctioned the people moving cash through it. One government scrubbing its own books, the other naming the people who dirtied them, on the same clock.

The Peace Wobbles, the Money Moves

The Versailles deal looked shaky within 24 hours. Iran suspended the talks, Israel kept striking Lebanon, and the US Vice President never flew to Switzerland. But watch what did not move. US Central Command formally lifted the naval blockade. The oil kept sailing. Iran already stood its military down and accepted that only half of its frozen funds come back up front. The loud part can wobble. The quiet part, the barrels and the banking, never paused.

New CBI governor – the central bank’s anti-money-laundering chief, installed in a single 24-hour reshuffle

Treasury action (sb0535) – Hezbollah financial network named across Lebanon, Syria, Oman, and Iraq

Iran funds – roughly half of about 24 billion dollars in frozen money released up front, the rest on a 60-day clock

Iraq reserves – down 1.1 billion dollars in a single week, to 76.25 billion

That is the short version, and those moves are public. What the daily briefing does is connect them: why an anti-fraud governor points to a clean, recorded, defensible rate event rather than a chaotic one, the historical precedent for a battered deal that held anyway, and the two dates that matter next, July 1, when parliament takes up the oil law, and July 27, when the northern pipeline treaty runs out.

The deeper background is in the book Head of the Snake (25% off this week with code 25XOFF), and the free guides and scenario reports are in the Resources library.

Everyone read the same news this week. The only question that matters is who was watching the money while the rest of the world watched the war.
