What We All Need To Prepare For
Most people have no idea how profoundly things are about to change over the next couple of years. This shift will hit hardest for anyone whose livelihood depends on the traditional “attention economy” passive content consumption, streaming platforms, gaming rigs, and scripted entertainment. Elon Musk is positioned to upend the entire entertainment industry in ways that make today’s models obsolete.
Consider the Blindsight project as a concrete example.
Neuralink has received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation for Blindsight, a system designed to restore visual perception by directly stimulating the visual cortex. It bypasses damaged eyes and optic nerves entirely. An external camera (initially paired with smart glasses or similar hardware in early implementations) captures the real-world environment and transmits high-fidelity visual data straight into the brain. As of early 2026, Neuralink has 21 human participants in its broader trials, with zero serious device-related adverse events reported. First human Blindsight implants are targeted for 2026, pending final approvals.
What Makes This Revolutionary Is Simple:
The mind bending aspect about this is that Neuralink is not repairing biological tissue. It is creating a “digital overlay” of reality that the brain accepts as authentic input. A blind individual will eventually look at the same live sports game you watch with healthy eyes and perceive the exact colors, movements, players, and crowd dynamics at synaptic-level fidelity. The visual cortex processes the artificial signal indistinguishably from natural optic nerve input. Please tell me you are getting this?
Because if Neuralink can deliver a 1:1 digital replica of baseline Earth that feels completely real including the potential for full sensory integration (sight, sound, touch, proprioception-(6th Sense) and beyond) then the floodgates open for any imagined world. Artificial constructs become just as convincing and inhabitable as physical reality.
Education, training, and pure entertainment shift from passive observation to full immersion. You don’t watch or play a scenario you ‘live’ it as the protagonist, with no joystick, no headset, and no disconnect. You have to keep an eye on this project folks.
This is why passive entertainment as we know it ends. No more scrolling feeds or scripted shows that demand your attention from a screen. Early adopters will step directly into curated environments whether historical recreations, skill-building simulations, or wild fantasies with physiological feedback that registers as genuine lived experience.

Like It Or Not This Is Where We Are Headed
The acceleration behind this is relentless. xAI’s Colossus supercluster (already scaling toward hundreds of thousands of GPUs with gigawatt-scale power draw, including Macrohard-related expansions) combined with swarms of advanced AI agents compresses development timelines dramatically. Data center buildouts worldwide including major moves in Saudi Arabia and other regions reflect the compute hunger for rendering these indistinguishable virtual worlds at scale.
Elon Musk has openly referenced Iain M. Banks’ Culture series, where neural lace-like implants allow individuals to inhabit any fantasy or simulated reality their minds can conceive, treating digital overlays as fully “real.” Musk has stated his intent to make elements of that vision concrete. Neuralink’s trajectory from current motor and speech restoration (including early VOICE trial progress restoring vocal output for ALS patients) to full bidirectional sensory override aligns directly with that.
By 2027-2028, if the compression pattern from Tesla FSD, Starship, and Optimus holds, we could see early cohorts experiencing these capabilities. The first clear Blindsight successes, where a previously blind person interacts seamlessly with the shared physical world at visual parity, will serve as undeniable proof. At that point, the distinction between “real” and “artificial” collapses for those plugged in.
Everything built on today’s attention economy Hollywood blockbusters, traditional gaming, social media dopamine loops faces existential disruption. Companies are already quietly preparing infrastructure for this transition. The caveat, of course, involves profound societal, psychological, and philosophical questions about detachment, addiction, and the fracturing of shared baseline reality. Those discussions are coming.
