At about 6:57 PM PDT four F-18s flew South directly overhead towards Trona Pinnacles about 2,000 – 3,000 feet above the ground near top speed within 30 seconds from the first to the last.
In the 20+ years I lived here NAWS China Lake has not flown that many in that short of time, but they have flow them higher up and throughout the day.
The Moon just rose in the East about 10 minutes earlier with the hills darkened by the Sun setting in the West behind those hills.
A few weeks ago my friend and I were coming back home on the only 2 lane road from the next major city and the Sun was already going down, but there was some light on spots of those the hills either side of the road and flying between the hills at a low level were a few military aircraft basically following the curves in the road and hills to maneuver their skills. Those hills were about 1,000 feet high and they were below the tops of them.
So something may be coming about for them to take these test flights.
