Rupert Murdoch is stepping down as chairman of the board of both Fox Corp. and News Corp.
Murdoch, 92, will be appointed chairman emeritus of each company. ‘Lachlan Murdoch’, one of his sons, will become sole chairman of News Corp. and will continue as Fox Corp.’s executive chair and CEO.
Since July 2022, Murdoch had worked from his home in Montana rather than going into Fox or News Corp. offices, according to a securities filing.
Murdoch’s departure also comes a year ahead of the upcoming U.S. presidential election. News Corp. owns newspapers The Wall Street Journal and New York Post, among other publications, while Fox is the parent company of right-leaning TV networks Fox News and Fox Business.

Murdoch Mysteries
Murdoch Mysteries is aCanadian television drama series that premiered January 20, 2008. The series is based on characters from the Detective Murdoch novels by Maureen Jennings and stars Yannick Bisson as William Murdoch, a Toronto Constabulary police detective in the late 18 and early 1900’s. The series was known as The Artful Detective in the US.
Murdoch solves many of his cases using methods of detection that were unusual at the time, such as fingerprinting (finger marks), blood testing and trace evidence. Some of the technology and devices Murdoch uses are crude prototypes of modern police tools, so Murdoch is the Forrest Gump of investigation inventions. The 3 other main characters are Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig), Doctor Julia Ogden (Helene Joy) (is) the pathologist, and Constable George Crabtree (Jonny Harris). Brackenreid, Murdoch’s immediate superior, is blunt and skeptical with a fondness for whiskey and is happy when Murdoch’s ingenuity succeeds. Crabtree is a great assistant and loyal to Murdoch.
