Unlocking the Potency & Power of “We The People” to Save Ourselves

While the impetus for recent Patriot zeal for freedom is beyond the scope of this writing, I do endeavor to help diagnose – and ameliorate – its inefficacy. A 3-stage framework for conceptualizing the continuum of departure from the bread & circus is discussed, along with points of self-deception.  A challenge to make honest appraisal of your contribution is made, via simple “litmus test,” before it’s too late for you to matter.

The “WAKE up” stage involves receiving information.  No longer under the ether, you’re now receptive to information that threatens your cozy worldview.  Inputs challenge your comfort zone and you realize things likely aren’t what they seem.  Previously asleep at the wheel, you now perceive everything from local micro-tyrants to satanic agendas orchestrated from on high.

The “STAND up” stage involves giving information.  Now exposed to sufficient material, and perhaps having ample confidence in its veracity, you share on social media, etc..  Essentially, you’re recruiting others into the “wake up” stage.  The great danger is loitering here, dropping video links and recycling memes for the rest of your life.  It’s like everyone preaching to the choir about the grass being tall, but nobody starts a mower.

The “SHOW up” stage involves exiting the echo chamber and actually acting upon information.  Frankly, taking the fight to the enemy is all that’s outcome determinative.  Ultimately, the powers that should not be don’t care if people know.  Verily, the more sadistic among them may actually enjoy you being both angry and also too feckless to revolt.  Many themselves truly are cowards, and derive their power simply from making a bigger coward of you.  Moreover, the very nature of controlled opposition involves metering doses of truth that satisfy their apparent objective of “informed consent” via your knowledge without objection.  Your awareness, and subsequent impotence, is tacit agreement with your own demise.

Two glamorized “stand up” activities masquerade as meaningful.  The first is attending Patriot conferences.  While some allege conference organizers are “PAYtriots” profiting by selling access to new idols who replaced the fallen Hollywood stars, these events do seem much like pep rallies, devoid of realistic calls to action on the battlefield.  Second, some Patriots have organized into quasi-formal groups, contradictorily emulating the old-order power structures they decry.  They erect hierarchies and spin their wheels on administrative tasks and digital “paper shuffling,” convinced their title evinces a “leadership” role in the Patriot movement.  Meanwhile, the cabal couldn’t care less about their dormant council, committee or cadre of officers.

Evaluating your station on the spectrum is remarkably, perhaps painfully, simple:  Do your public servants know who you are?  If your sheriff, county commissioners, mayor, police chief, school board, state and county election board, federal and state legislators, etc. know you by name or face, there’s a pretty good chance you’re out there stirring the pot.  By contrast, if they don’t know you, there’s an exceptionally good chance they also don’t know your views.  If they don’t know your views, you’re having no impact on the things you chronically complain about (to others, who also do nothing but complain).

Your failure to matriculate to the “show up” phase hurts the movement and your legacy.  Our greatest weapon, numbers, is neutered.  For instance, consider 17 Wal-Mart employees together refusing to wear masks.  Would the manager send them all home and subsequently close the store, being so short-staffed?  We’ll never know, because individual fear trounced collective faith.  Apart from crippling the movement, your passivity becomes your history.  When this epic battle between good & evil dissipates, what will be your story?  Will you be remembered as one who entered the fray without timid regard for personal safety, or will you point to a social media account chock-full of regurgitated posts you hoped would spur someone else to take action?  Play your role.  Nobody else will, because nobody else can.
