Well, now, thank you for the lashing, Parrise, since I totally deserved it. A response I knew was coming. Maybe you’re right. I did read it too swiftly and jumped into a rant. My bad. I was triggered by the phrase…and it will take a long time to put that phrase in the harmless category. ‘Gun Violence’ is misinterpreted. I think you missed my point. The phrase ‘gun violence’ is still a political dig in the psyche.
I especially like your perfect composure in setting me straight with your sarcasm—one of my favorite things. My “toxic preach-fest is an act of word violence” tells me everything I need to know. My “tendency to let my emotions control me” is clear, to be sure. Even though my faults are obvious, my “negative emotional tantrum” is almost always triggered by political phrases. “Gun Violence” is a political phrase. I admit I wrote the article in response to the phrase…and not meant as a personal attack. I apologize for any emotional inconvenience caused and for misrepresentation. I can take the heat. My hide is tough enough. I welcome the lashing as a response to anything is better than no response at all. My anxiety is sometimes way too prevalent when I go into a rant. It’s just my nature and it’s something I’ve been working on my entire life.
I stand firm on ‘Gun Violence’ as a political term. I will not budge on that, regardless whether or not my rant was misguided or misinterpreted. I’m a big boy and I’ll admit when I’m wrong about something. Yes, I may have been out of line. And I know what the term means. You don’t have to explain it to me. I get it. I know what is meant by the term. But, i think, maybe, you may have missed my ranting point: It’s political terminology. It’s simple wording contruct that implies political ideology planted in the subconscious minds of the unwary about guns. Yes, guns are dangerous. To political Elites, guns should be taken away from everyone as they themselves are surrounded by armed men with guns. I’m not fond of their philosophy. They’re the biggest hypocrites on the planet.
Your response is well taken, however. It’s a lesson for me to be a little more mindful before I freak out about what triggers me. Sometimes I write things and send them in before my logical self catches up, and by that time it’s too late.
Again, a personal attack was not intended. My admiration towards you is genuine. Keep up the good work.
