Thomas Anderson: A First Analysis on Russia

let me try…

a first analysis

We all stood there with our mouths more or less open, watching the news coming in from Russia. A coup? Now? At this time?

That would be an almost fatal further parallel to the German Empire, 1914-1918, the so-called dagger thrust legend, which was not a legend, but actually led to the fact that the German Empire, at that time in principle victorious on all fronts and in a very good starting position and negotiating position, suddenly found itself confronted with a revolution inside and, as it were, collapsed internally. The “home front” crumbled, popular support broke down, and the war was lost with a crash. When the first news from Russia arrived, the very first thing I thought of was an externally induced revolution in Russia, which, had it been true, I suspected would have been a CIA masterstroke.

But I think I was completely wrong.

And this thought gives me hope.

Let’s assume that Mr. Progishin, as leader of the Wagner troops, had a very close contact with Putin over the last years. The nature of his appearance suggests that his personal motives are not those of a “Sun King”, i.e. less pomp and enrichment and publicity-seeking appearance, but of a different nature. When you see him in an interview, you don’t see someone who is out for show, concerned about his appearance, or much concerned about the opinions of others about what he says and how he says it. On the contrary, he could be something like the antithesis of Steve Bannon. Not particularly telegenic, not to be taken lightly, but apparently someone with an inner compass (however aligned that may be…) and principles and views all his own.

The same is probably true for Putin. although it should be said that Putin clearly seems to have more advisors for his appearance than Progischin….

Well then.

The facts:

Wagner’s troops have complained several times in the past about the cooperation with the army leadership. It was said that the supplies did not work properly, were partially sabotaged, and finally it was even said that his troops were shot at and bombed by the regular army.

Then it was said that Wagner’s troops were on their way to Moscow, had occupied a local defense ministry in Rostov, and had demanded the surrender of Defense Minister Shoigu.

then, a few kilometers from Moscow, there was some agreement.

It was said that the President of Belarus, Lukashenko, had held talks with all sides and that a solution had been found. Accordingly, Progishin is to be accommodated in Belarus and the Wagner force itself is to remain untouched. It was said that Putin will stick to his defense minister Shoigu.

Now, barely 24 hours later, Shoigu has been detained and is to be removed, as is Gerasimov, who reportedly “ran away” just as the news broke.

Well, barely 24 hours later, Shoigu is said to have been arrested and is to be removed, as is Gerasimov, who is said to have just “run away” when word of the approaching Wagner troupe circulated in Moscow.

The picture that now presents itself with these new puzzle pieces is the following:

Progishin, a long-time contact and companion of Putin, with little sense and striving for appearances but possibly a true patriot, may have sacrificed his public reputation (which he probably doesn’t care about at all) and “played” a coup. Putin, on the other hand, allowed his structures to react and watched who did what and how.

There were some in the ranks of the military who joined the “coup” by the Wagner troops, there was immediate support from the DeepState outside Russia, and some Russian opposition figures also immediately applauded. Apparently, Shoigu dropped some bombs on the Wagner squad and possibly set some things in motion internally with appropriate people within his structure.

Within a surprisingly short time of only some few hours, Lukashenko pulled a “solution” out of a hat and allegedly held “very extensive talks” with everyone involved. Suddenly Putin is still talking about traitors, but he doesn’t say a word about the Wagner troops, he says the traitors will pay, but doesn’t name Progishin. Instead, Shoigu is suddenly stuck and charged.

So perhaps this was a well-placed trap that actually gave the semblance of a real revolution, but was instead intended to lure out only those who would like to get Putin out of the picture right now.

this may all be so or not. It’s really hard to say. One of my sources close to a senior Russian government official confirms EXACTLY this picture. but this too can be a personally colored impression that does not necessarily correspond to the actual picture.

Eine erste Analyse

Wir haben alle mit mehr oder weniger offenem Mund da gestanden und zugesehen, wie die Meldungen eintrafen aus Russland. Ein Putsch? Jetzt? zu diesem Zeitpunkt?

Das wäre eine geradezu fatale weitere Parallele zum Deutschen Reich, 1914-1918, die sogenannte Dolch-stoß-Legende, die keine Legende war, sondern tatsächlich dazu führte, dass das Deutsche Reich, zu jenem Zeitpunkt im Prinzip siegreich an allen Fronten und in sehr guter Ausgangslage und Verhandlungsposition, sich plötzlich mit einer Revolution im Inneren konfrontiert sah und gleichsam innerlich zusammenbrach. Die “Heimatfront” bröckelte, die Zustimmung im Volk zerbrach und der Krieg ging krachend verloren. Als die ersten Nachrichten aus Russland eintrafen, dachte ich als allererstes an eine von außen induzierte Revolution in Russland, ein, wäre es denn wahr gewesen, vermutliches Meisterstück der CIA, so vermutete ich.

Aber ich glaube ich lag vollkommen falsch.

Und dieser Gedanke macht mir Hoffnung.

Nehmen wir einmal an, daß Herr Progischin als Führer der Wagner Truppe einen durchaus engen Kontakt zu Putin hatte über die letzten Jahre. Die Art seines Auftretens läßt darauf schließen, dass seine persönlichen Beweggründe nicht die eines “Sonnenkönigs” sind, also weniger Prunk und Bereicherung und öffentlichkeitswirksames Auftreten, sondern anderer Natur sind. Wenn man ihn im Interview sieht, sieht man nicht jemanden, der auf einen Showeffekt aus ist, auf sein Äußeres achtet oder sich iel um die Meinung anderer über das, was er sagt und wie er es sagt, Sorgen macht. Im Gegenteil, er könnte so etwas wie das Gegenstück zu Steve Bannon sein. Nicht gerade besonders telegen, nicht leicht zu nehmen, aber offenbar jemand mit einem inneren Kompass (wie auch immer der ausgerichtet sein mag…) und Prinzipien und ganz eigenen Ansichten.

Ähnliches gilt wohl für Putin. wobei zu sagen ist, dass Putin eindeutig mehr Berater für sein Äußeres zu haben scheint als Progischin….

Nun denn.

Die Fakten:

Die Wagnertruppe hat sich in der Vergangenheit mehrfach über die Zusammenarbeit mit der Armeeführung beschwert. Es hieß, der Nachschub funktioniere nicht richtig, würde teilweise sabotiert und zum Schluß hiess es gar, seine Truppe wäre von der regulären Armee beschossen und bombardiert worden.

Dann hieß es, die Wagnertruppen wären unterwegs nach Moskau, hätten in Rostow ein lokales Verteidigungsministerium besetzt und die Herausgabe von Verteidigungsminister Shoigu gefordert.

dann, wenige Kilometer vor Moskau, gab es einige Einigung.

Es hieß, dass der Präsident von Belarus, Lukaschenko, Gespräche mit allen Seiten geführt habe und dass man eine Lösung gefunden habe. Progischin soll demnach in Belarus unterkommen und die Wagnertruppe selbst unangetastet bleiben. Es hieß, Putin werden an seinem Verteidigungsminister Shoigu festhalten.

Nun, kaum 24 std später heißt es, Shoigu sei festgesetzt und solle entfernt werden, ebenso Gerasimov, der angeblich gerade “weggelaufen” sei, als die Nachricht über die sich nähernde Wagnertruppe in Moskau die Runde machte.

Das Bild, das sich nun mit diesen neuen Puzzelsteinen bietet, ist das folgende:

Progischin, ein langjähriger Kontakt und Wegefährte Putins, mit wenig Sinn und Streben nach Äußerem aber wohlmöglich ein echter Patriot, hat möglicherweise seinen öffentlichen Ruf geopfert (der ihm vermutlich völlig egal ist), und einen Putsch “gespielt”. Putin widerum hat seine Strukturen reagieren lassen und zugesehen wer was wie macht.

Es gabn in den Reihen der Militärs einige, die sich dem “Putsch” der Wagnertruppe angeschlossen haben, es gab vom DeepState außerhalb Russlands sofort Unterstützung und einige russische Oppositionelle haben ebenfalls sofort Beifall geklatscht. Shoigu hat offenbar einige Bomben fallen lassen auf die Wagnertruppe und möglicherweise intern einiges in Bewegung gesetzt mit entsprechenden Leuten innerhalb seiner Struktur.

Innerhalb sehr erstaunlich kurzer Zeit hat dann Lukaschenko eine “Lösung” aus dem Hut gezaubert und angeblich “sehr umfangreiche Gespräche” mit allen Beteiligten geführt. Plötzlich spricht Putin zwar immer noch von Verrätern, nimmt aber mit keinem Wort die Wagnertruppe in den Mund, spricht davon, dass die Verräter bezahlen werden, nennt aber nicht Progischin. Stattdessen sitz auf einmal Shoigu fest und unter Anklage.

Möglicherweise war dies also eine gut aufgestellte Falle, die tatsächlich den Anschein einer echten Revolution machte, jedoch stattdessen nur diejenigen hervorlocken sollten, die Putin am liebsten jetzt und sofort weg vom Fenster hätten.

dies mag alles so sein,
oder aber auch nicht.
Es ist wirklich schwer zu sagen.

Eine meiner Quellen aus dem Umfeld eines hochrangigen russischen Regierungsmitgliedes bestätigt EXAKT dieses Bild.

aber auch dies kann ein persönlich gefärbter Eindruck sein, der nicht unbedingt dem tatsächlichen Bild entspricht.
