Vatican enjoys diplomatic immunity says human rights court – dismisses alleged child-a---e victims
The European Court of Human Rights has dismissed a case submitted by 24 people claiming to be survivors of child s----l a---e at the hands of the Catholic clergy from France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
The alleged survivors had initially filed a class action , demanding €10,000 ($11,600) in compensation for each victim because of the Church’s “policy of silence on the issue of s----l a---e.”
However a Belgian court has concluded the Holy See enjoys “diplomatic immunity” – recognized internationally as a foreign, sovereign, state.
