Navy Patented Tech That Sounds Like Sci-Fi. They Tested It for 3 Years. The Result Might Surprise You.

Big shifts don’t always cause panic if people have already seen versions of the idea in movies and TV. Science fiction has been quietly doing that job for decades—AI, advanced tech, life from somewhere else.

Spielberg’s 2026 film Disclosure Day fits right into that pattern. It’s a thriller about people trying to get the word out about extraterrestrial life while others try to stop them. It’s still just a movie, not some official reveal, but big films like that still shape how a lot of us think about the topic when it shows up in real life.

The US Navy actually filed a bunch of patents under aerospace engineer Salvatore Pais between 2015 and 2019.

The basic idea is pretty straightforward: spin and vibrate electrically charged parts really fast, and the claim is you can generate huge electromagnetic fields. Those fields are supposed to do wild things—like cut a craft’s inertial mass so it’s easier to accelerate, help squeeze plasma for a compact fusion reactor, or even generate gravitational waves. In theory that could let a vehicle move more easily through air, water, and space.

The patents got granted. Whether any of it actually works is a different story.

The Navy did test the core idea (they called it the Pais Effect) from 2016 to 2019 and spent about half a million dollars. At the end they said they couldn’t prove it worked. No one’s shown a working version since.

On a separate note, retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Steven Kwast has talked openly about space-based solar power and beaming energy wirelessly. He gave a well-known speech on it back in 2019 and has kept discussing the concept. It’s a real line of research people have looked at for a long time—not proof that someone’s already got a system that can beam power anywhere they want.

Data-center build-out supplies the compute for grids, AI, and automated systems. Musk and others have linked energy abundance + robotics to falling costs of living and forms of universal high income. These are real investment and public-statement trends.

Claims of already-deployed reverse-engineered NHI tech, deliberate civilizational preconditioning as policy, or a finished post-scarcity control architecture remain speculative. Documented patents and statements exist; working systems and coordinated plots do not.
