BREAKING: President Trump highlights declassified FBI notes that just dropped, and they don’t match the report that took down Gen. Flynn.
Handwritten notes from agents Peter Strzok and Joe Pientka of their Jan. 24, 2017 interview with Michael Flynn have been released,
They clash with the official FD-302 typed more than 20 days later. The document was used to charge Trump’s first national security advisor with lying and pressure him into a plea.
Lets get into the new documents:
Pientka’s notes quote Flynn saying “Not really. I don’t remember. Hey don’t do anything.” They also record no “long drawn out” discussion “about don’t do anything.” Flynn did not tell agents he never spoke with Kislyak or never made such a request.
Strzok’s notes on the number of calls. “If so, don’t remember. If so, busy place to make phone calls.” Another notation: Flynn did not remember making 4–5 calls, “If did lousy place to call.”
Flynn did not flatly deny talking to Kislyak about sanctions, he said he couldn’t remember, wasn’t sure, and conceded it was possible.

Agents, including Strzok, assessed that Flynn appeared truthful and did not appear to be trying to deceive them.
FBI Washington Field Office had already recommended closing the Flynn probe for lack of “derogatory” information and planned a defensive briefing. Strzok intervened to keep it open and push for the interview.
Senior FBI official William Priestap’s earlier notes asked whether the goal was “Truth/Admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?” and warned against “playing games.”
Officials debated how, or whether, to give Flynn the standard warning against lying so he would stay off-guard.
Flynn pleaded guilty, later sought to withdraw the plea, was pardoned in 2020, sued, and in 2025 the Justice Department settled his case for about $1.2 million. The notes are now part of renewed scrutiny of how the Russia probe was handled.
