I think it’s time we actually address this as a standalone article. Because the panic didn’t organically sprout from town hall meetings or concerned citizen groups scrolling through utility bills. It was manufactured. Coordinated. Funded through the same laundering architecture that has bankrolled every recent anti-American initiative environmental NGO shells, Geneva banking syndicate cutouts, and Beijing’s United Front Work Department influence channels operating through intermediaries in Vancouver, Toronto, and select California-based think tanks.
A lot of people are being fooled into thinking this anti-Data Center movement is an organic grassroots campaign from people who are wearing their hearts on their mouse key. And I am tired of people allowing themselves to be dragged into this as if their being attacked by technology that we have been connected to for years. But people think these Data Centers just popped up a few months ago. That is the underlying issue to me personally. Because none of this was an argument until it was permitted to be one. So let’s get into this and address the root incentives.
The Trigger Was Clean:
Donald Trump’s second-term executive orders fast-tracking domestic AI infrastructure on federal land, specifically the $100 billion Kentucky hyperscale project and related permits cutting bureaucratic timelines from years to weeks. The moment those orders hit, within seventy-two hours, four environmental nonprofits filed suits.
All four share donor overlap with the same Swiss-compliant funding vehicles that routed money through the Climate Investigations Center and the Center for Biological Diversity both of which have received grants from the Energy Foundation, which itself has received funding from the Hewlett Foundation, whose endowment sits in portfolios managed by Lombard Odier and Pictet, two Geneva private banks with documented exposure to Chinese sovereign wealth instruments and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
That’s the wire. Follow it backward and you trip over the same accounts that funded the anti-fracking campaigns between 2014 and 2019 same playbooks, same donor trees, same objective: kneecap American energy independence under an environmental veil.*
The anti-data-center campaign is not grassroots. It is turf. Astroturfed opposition designed to stall American AI dominance while China completes its own hyperscale buildout over 700 data centers operational or under construction across the mainland as of 2025, powered by subsidized coal and slave-touched labor in Xinjiang’s polysilicon supply chain.
