IN MANY ANCIENT TEXTS, TIME TRAVEL AND TIME DILATION ARE DESCRIBED
King Kakudmi traveled to Brahma for a couple of hours – but on Earth, 108 yugas (hundreds of millions of years) had passed.
And this is not the only case.
Do you think the ancients knew something that we still do not understand?
The most famous story comes from the Hindu Puranas (Mahabharata, Bhagavata Purana). King Raivata Kakudmi took his daughter Revati and traveled to Brahmaloka to ask Brahma to choose a suitable groom for her.
While they waited for an audience with Brahma (literally just a couple of minutes from their perspective), 27 Chatur Yugas had passed on Earth – more than 100 million years. All the suitors had long since died, and the world had changed beyond recognition.
Brahma calmly explained: “Time flows differently on different planes of existence.”

Japan – the fisherman Urashima Taro spent a few days in the Dragon King’s underwater palace. When he returned, 300-400 years had passed. His home was gone, the village had changed, and he himself instantly grew old.
Islam and Christianity – the “Sleepers of the Cave” (Ashab al-Kahf) slept in a cave for 309 years. They awoke to find the world transformed, and their story had become a legend.
In Celtic folklore, people would spend a single night in the fairy hills – only to return hundreds of years later.
These are not random coincidences. The ancients were clearly reflecting on relativistic time, higher dimensions, and different “planes of existence” – long before the theory of relativity.
Or perhaps they were actually describing real journeys to other dimensions or worlds where time flows differently? Or are these simply powerful metaphors about the transience of all things?
