This historic World War 2 photo was taken of the infantry troops landing at Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944.
These brave men were White Hats whether they knew it or not ~ all warriors and defenders who fought for international freedom from global tyranny on the battlefields across time.
My Dad was with the Big Red One and 20 years old when he swam to the shores at Omaha Beach surviving under fire with a 90 pound pack on his back. He was severely wounded at the Battle of the Bulge and saved himself by covering his legs in the snow drifts. It was a miracle that a triage of medics found him before dark.
Let us honor and remember today all the brave soldiers who fought and died for us with a moment of prayer and gratitude.
