How many of you all remember the post I did almost a couple of years ago about how rare wood is and that earth is the only place that has it? Many think I say random things just for clicks. Then you wake up one day and find yourself trying to search for those past statements.

Wood isn’t a simple mineral or element like carbon, iron, or diamond. It’s a complex biological material created through a highly specific evolutionary process called lignification in vascular plants. Trees and similar organisms use photosynthesis to convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into sugars, then build structural support with cellulose (a carbohydrate polymer) reinforced by lignin (a tough, cross-linked polymer that gives wood its strength and rigidity).
This requires:
Liquid surface water in stable quantities over long periods.
A protective atmosphere with sufficient carbon dioxide (and later oxygen from photosynthesis itself).
Moderate temperatures allowing liquid water without extreme boiling or freezing.
Gravity strong enough for tall upright growth (to compete for light and resist collapse).
Hundreds of millions of years of evolutionary time for multicellular land plants to develop vascular systems, roots, and lignin biosynthesis.

So as you can see here I was in a long discussion regarding this with one individual who studies this topic religiously. And we possess things on this planet that makes out unique biomes an exclusive planetary product that is hard to find outside of our known universe. But ofcourse you have to be of a certain mindset to venture out into this field and dedicate real time to it in order to walk away with a basic understanding of the “why” behind this.
