THE BLOODLINE OF JESUS AND MARY MAGDALENE – PART IX: CLAN MACLEOD – FROM IVAR THE BONELESS TO DONALD J. TRUMP
By the turn of the 13th century, the sacred heritage flowed through the veins of Clan MacLeod – a resilient Gaelic-Norse house rooted in the Hebrides.
CLAN MACLEOD – THE VIKING LINEAGE
Clan MacLeod claims no direct thread from William the Conqueror or the Norman strain, which stemmed from Rollo’s carving of Normandy in 911 AD.
Clan MacLeod draws its ancient foundations from Leod, who inherited the mantle from Olaf the Black, a pillar of the Crovan dynasty forged by Godred Crovan (d. 1095).
This dynasty, in turn, anchors to the Uí Ímair (House of Ivar), a Norse-Gaelic royal lineage planted in Ireland and the Isles by Ivar the Boneless (d. c. 873), one of Ragnar Lothbrok’s formidable sons.
TIMELINE
This final part of our saga of the holy bloodline of Jesus and Mary Magdalene commences in the mid-9th century (c. 845–865 AD), when Ragnar Lothbrok unleashed raids across Europe’s shores.
From 865 to 873 AD, Ragnar’s son Ivar the Boneless commanded the Great Heathen Army in assaults on England, subduing domains in Northumbria, East Anglia, and Mercia; Triumphs secured, he pivoted to Ireland, establishing the Uí Ímair dynasty in Dublin and extending Viking mastery over the Irish Sea, with strongholds in York and East Anglia in England, alongside Dublin in Ireland.
Across the 9th to 11th centuries (c. 873–1079 AD), the Uí Ímair dynasty governed as kings of Dublin, projecting power to the Western Isles (Hebrides) and Isle of Man – lineal rulers from Ivar’s kin, like Sitric Cáech and Olaf Cuaran, merging Norse iron with Gaelic spirit to forge enduring Norse-Gaelic sovereignties in Dublin, the Isle of Man, and footholds in Scotland’s Hebrides.

In 1079–1095 AD, Godred Crovan (Godred the Whitehanded), seized the Isle of Man and segments of the Hebrides following triumphs at the Battle of Skyhill, cementing the Crovan dynasty.
From 1113 to 1237 AD, Olaf Godredsson (Olaf the Black), grandson of Godred Crovan, held sway as King of Man and the Isles, forging pacts with Scottish and Norwegian might to ensure enduring peace from his seat at Peel on the Isle of Man and across the Hebrides.
Around 1200–1280 AD, Leod – held as Olaf the Black’s son – claimed territories via union with the daughter of Macraild Armuinn, a Norse warlord, birthing Clan MacLeod and rooting it in the Hebrides; His offspring partitioned the clan into Tormod (Siol Tormod, MacLeods of Harris and Dunvegan) and Torquil (Siol Torquil, MacLeods of Lewis), with bastions at Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye and Harris tracts on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides.
Through the 13th to 15th centuries (c. 1280–1500 AD), Clan MacLeod of Lewis broadened its grip over Lewis and Raasay beneath leaders like Torquil MacLeod, clashing with rival clans such as the MacKenzies and pledging fealty to Scottish crowns in battles while preserving Norse-Gaelic rites.
In the 16th to 17th centuries (c. 1500–1700 AD), the Lewis lineage endured factional strife and outer assaults, including the loss of holdings in 1597 amid vendettas.
Across the 18th to 19th centuries (c. 1700–1900 AD), mounting debts compelled the divestment of Lewis lands in 1844 to James Matheson, turning numerous MacLeods to crofting or departure during the Highland Clearances.
DONALD JOHN TRUMP – SON OF MARY ANNE MACLEOD
In the late 19th to early 20th centuries (c. 1866–1912 AD), Malcolm MacLeod – Mary Anne’s father, born in 1866 – toiled as a fisherman and sub-postmaster in Tong, wedding Mary Smith and nurturing kin amid Gaelic-speaking enclaves on the Isle of Lewis.

Finally, in 1912 AD, Mary Anne MacLeod entered the world on May 10 in Tong, the youngest among ten siblings. In 1930 she ventured to the United States to wed Fred Trump, and gave birth to Donald John Trump in 1946.
