Understanding The Implication Of This
I did a post on this last year. (Feel Free To Pull It Up) Trust me. We do not want the ICC in charge of anything. Because this puts control over potential legal proceedings under American jurisdiction. The ICC has been dragging their feet on many issues and never follow through. They have been blowing smoke up our asses for years. You have to understand that Israel needs to answer for other crimes that has nothing to do with their onslaught on Gaza.
This will take time but these are steps towards full accountability eventually. The ICC will just be in the way. The ICC are not some innocent little tea pots who just want justice.
President Trump’s push for expanded sanctions on the ICC building on his February 2025 Executive Order 14203 represents a calculated assertion of U.S. sovereignty that could streamline legal proceedings under domestic or allied jurisdictions, but it does risks undermining global norms without addressing root inefficiencies in the ICC’s operations. But people have no clue about the ICC.
To contextualize, Trump’s administration has already imposed targeted sanctions on ICC personnel and entities since early 2025, citing the court’s perceived politicization, particularly in its pursuit of arrest warrants against Israeli officials. Recent reports indicate broader entity-wide measures are under consideration as of September 22, 2025, potentially encompassing the entire institution to deter what the administration views as overreach into non-party states like the United States and Israel.
This aligns with my point on retaining control over proceedings; by sidelining the ICC, the U.S. could expedite investigations through frameworks like the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia or bilateral agreements, ensuring proceedings reflect national security priorities rather than protracted multilateral debates.
