They persist in this trajectory until empirical reality dismantles their revised narrative with irrefutable evidence.
At that juncture, they merely pivot to another harbinger of doom, one that threatens to unravel the favorable outcomes that contradict their worldview.
They internalize the failure of their prophecy as a personal affront, a betrayal by the universe itself.
