Please imagine the following:
You live in a small town with a population of a few tens of thousands.
Not everyone knows everyone, but you know a lot of people and hear a lot of things.
You have children, a small one and a big daughter.
The mayor lives on a street not far from you.
A respected man, you often read about him in the newspaper; sometimes he is on television and it’s common knowledge that it’s better not to mess with him because he’s a powerful, well-connected man, powerful, well-connected man.
One day you hear a rumor that something strange is going on in the garden behind the mayor’s house.
Allegedly, screams have been heard.
But nobody knows anything for sure.
At least that’s what everyone says.
In the weeks and months that follow, you keep hearing rumors like this.
There are more and more reports of children disappearing just like that and also of young women.
But nobody knows anything for sure, but somehow there are always clues or rumors pointing to this property.
Of course, this is hushed up because no one wants to take on the powerful mayor with unprovable accusations.
And, so it is said behind closed doors, it is not only the mayor, but allegedly also some of the city council.
In your eyes, that sounds like a very conspiracy-theoretical and politically motivated distortion of the truth.
But… The rumors don’t stop.
Something keeps coming up, but no one seems to take any notice except them.
There’s a video of a little boy apparently standing there naked and crying and bleeding in a very questionable environment.
A very incriminating video that you won’t be able to get out of your head for a long time.
There is a statement from the neighboring town by a young woman who allegedly escaped and reports the worst things.
Nobody listens to her.
Why you of all people are receiving this information is a mystery to you.
Only a few people apart from you know about it; the vast majority seem to have no interest in dealing with such things.
The statements of the “victims” are too incriminating.
And you’re not really sure whether it’s all true.
But more photos appear. The most disgusting things are shown and reported, and the numbers of missing children and women mentioned behind the scenes are considerably higher than you would have guessed.
And on top of that, there seems to be a whole network that is not only up to mischief in your town but virtually everywhere.
Then the family from your street is hit.
The child has disappeared.
You may not know the child personally, but you have seen the family before.
How terrible, you think. I wonder what happened to the child.
Has it lost its way? Did it fall victim to an accident alone in the woods somewhere?
Dead?
Or has it been abducted?
By people who would like to have a child of their own but were never able to have one naturally?
Or has the child been abducted and is now falling victim to further crimes?
Worst-case scenarios are now lined up one after the other in your head.
The poor child.
And it’s not just one; there are obviously many.
And women too.
And just because they are already adults or almost adults doesn’t make it any less bad. Different, yes, but no less bad.
You look at your own children. At your wife. To your older daughter.
What if….
You push the thought away.
A terrible thought.
The family with the missing child can’t push the thought away.
It has already happened.
Would it perhaps not have happened if you had shared your observations with others earlier?
But to whom?
Who belongs to “them” and who doesn’t?
How are you supposed to know?
Would you put yourself in danger if you passed on this information?
Would there be a way to pass on this information without putting yourself in danger?
Could you have changed anything?

Then two more children disappear.
Then some from the neighboring town.
Why are “only” you aware of this information? You don’t know.
Nobody takes any notice.
“Tragic individual cases,” individual cases that are piling up by the hundreds, by the thousands.
More and more.
With more and more hideous photos being sent to you or found by you.
You feel powerless.
You are now firmly convinced of what you have heard.
Thanks to the wealth of information, you have a relatively detailed picture of how the system works and who may be involved in it.
And you know very well that each and every one of these people has more power than you do.
And another child disappears.
And another one.
They are still not your children.
But you know very well that it’s not your fault; it’s luck.
A very thin layer of reliability on which this happiness stands.
It is not your child.
But it is a child.
And every time you see a little 4-year-old girl at the supermarket checkout, longing for the lollipops or the toy cars, you imagine some sick a**hole is having his way with this girl and how terrible that must be for her.
Can you still feel happiness?
Yes, maybe.
Why not?
You are lucky.
But in the back of your mind, there are increasing signs of deep sadness.
Sadness about the children you don’t know, but who you are sure must be suffering the incomprehensible, again, and again, and again, and again.
And again.
Unspeakable horror, committed against the most defenseless in our society.

Dear readers, I am writing this to you because I am going through it myself.
For many years.
And someone recently asked me if I was happy.
And quite apart from the fact that you have everyday things like “trouble at the office” or “stress with your wife” or not enough money, whatever, things that somehow prevent you from being happy,
There’s this impotent rage at the people who do this to children and women.
And the deep sadness when I think about the fates of these children.
They are not my own children, but they are children, damn it.
Look at any child. Can you put such a child, any child, in someone’s hands and just let them do what they want? Of course not! Because you are not a p--------h.
You could NEVER actively allow someone to do something like that.
But I’m also stunned at how these things can go unrecognized for so long, and even now.
And then there is the despair that somehow nobody seems to care.
There are so many “healthy” people who find this kind of thing disgusting.
Why doesn’t anyone do anything?
Why does everyone look the other way?
Why do most people seem to be trying so hard to focus their attention on anything but this issue?
Don’t they care about the children?
Surely not, if they knew….
But even if you are told that there is something there, somehow nobody takes a closer look.
Honestly:
I don’t understand the situation.
I don’t blame the people who don’t see it.
I haven’t seen it myself for a long time.
There is also no “but” at this point.
No, “But if I tell you now, you have to look.”
No.
Because whatever effect is behind it, perhaps the worry of mental overload, perhaps the fear of getting into trouble if you say something, perhaps other reasons, of which there may be hundreds. It doesn’t matter.
I am writing this to you, because I very, very much hope that more people will pay attention.
That more people are attentive and keep a watchful eye on their surroundings and are ALERT to the smallest signs and perhaps prevent something bad from happening.
And perhaps there is someone among the readers who has enough power and, for whatever reason, was previously unaware of these events, and then finally sends a special unit to where such things happen and can save children and women.
I am writing these lines in the hope that we as a society will at some point be able to put an end to these conditions for the most part, perhaps even completely.
News has just come from the USA that around 75,000 of the more than 300,000 missing children have been found. So far.
After all.
75,000 children rescued.
But over 200,000 are still missing.
And this only concerns the USA alone.
And imagine every single one of those missing children.
Each one on its own alone and perhaps you will then feel a little motivation within yourself to deal with this issue.
Maybe there is more to it than you thought.
Maybe it is true.
Maybe by chance you can ensure that one, just one, of these children is saved.
It’s not your own.
But some family and some child could owe their life to you.
I think that prospect is worth it!
