Dear Readers

a few days ago I thought about whatsapp, telegram, signal, parler and all those messenger apps.

I thought about how to make it more convenient and more secure.

to be honest, I use all of them

and I don’t like to have so many messenger apps.

with signal I miss the comfortability of whatsapp,

with telegram I miss the privacy and hacker resistance of signal,

and with whatspp I hate the fact, that they store each and every word, picture and chat and the police could grab everything you ever posted down to the very first day when you installed whatsapp.

(this is fact!! don’t get me wrong: this happened to a friend of mine, where they had the last 10 years (!) of chats from and with him, stored and analysed word by word.

believe me… no fun….)

what all of them have in common:
they need servers.

no.

server farms.

lots of them.

so, it´s not only that a central server can be attacked and downed for a while,

its not only that they store every word you say, every picture you send,

and its not only that you automatically loose ownership on those pictures when having sent them,

no, it´s also a huge energy consumption and security risk,

because once you re in – you are in and have it all.

so,

I thought about how to make that better.

and when my thoughts were ready and finished I searched the net if there was something similar perhaps already in existence.

and – voila – it is!!!

delta chat Is a messenger app, that you use like whatsapp.

but there is no central server,

it works decentralized

peer to peer

via email protocol

when you install this app

no matter on which platform,

you will get a new account from their server with an anonymous email account.

however… you are not forced to stick to that.

instead you can use you own emailaddress and pop3/imap server

so this messenger will never need a server farm being up and online all time,

it will work as long a email servers somewhere work.

decentral.

and as you may use your own emailaddress

with your own domain

or a freemail provider of your choice

your inbox stays also decentral and anonymous.

the same applies to every communication partner of yours.

no body can find you there by name,

but you can partner / pair your account with whomever you like to,

even online by sharing a QR code of your account.

the functionality is like whatsapp.

you can send audio, text video, attachments etc.

it even looks like whatsapp.

of course encryption is also available.

nobody has access to your contacts, because they are only on your phone.

nobody has access to your sent communication, because its only on your own emailserver.

and if you really use your own server, even no freemail provider has access to your communication.

no content can be stored and later handed over to any police department,

no content can be analysed to sell you whatever more and send you spams the very next day,

no server farm can be hacked and your data somehow be exposed on the net.

I see great advantages in this app compared to other messenger apps.

therefore I wanted to share this information with you.
