Due to black mold toxicity I’m having to use a walker these days. When I leave the motel room to take my dog out to do his business I’m ignored, nobody likes to see their immortality reflected in another. I can sit outside listening to whatever group of people are talking, usually it’s men temporarily living in this rundown motel. Repeatedly I hear them declare they have reached a certain age and have nothing to show for it. I see the depression and beaten spirit in their jesters.
I too am frustrated. It saddens me when I go out of the room at night and see a homeless person going through the dumpster or a homeless couple trying to hunker down under the eaves to stay dry and can only give them a microwaved potato and water. Still it’s more than what others who aren’t homeless like us would do. Sitting on my walker with a sign requesting a room to rent I know what it feels like to be one of the invisible people. Our struggles with homelessness are ignored. For society in general we don’t exist if they chose not to see us. Sure their are programs that are suppose to help but many don’t have the funds.
After waiting 9 months for a response from one housing program they told us to put in applications but made no offer to pay for the processing fee which is usually $50 per occupant. We chose to keep those would be wasted funds to pay for a cheap motel and food. This was the same for 4 counties. So White Hats or Alliance or whatever you call yourselves these days I say ENOUGH. Get the humanitarians processed so we can do what we feel God/creator source is leading us to do. I’m sure many would agree it’s way overdue.
