Dear Readers

I have been hacked over the christmas days.

so badly, that I partly lost access to my amazon sales account for my books and many of my emailaddresses

and lost a telegram account due to spamming on that account.

it was a terrible phase of many many days of work, constantly under stress, constantly under the pressure and feeling of being watched inside of my computer.

until i finally found the source of the problem,

which was a german email provider page (gmx.de), known for being constantly under attack.

I am writing you this, to share with you what I learned and to give you the chance to prevent things like this happen to you.

So,

first of all:

telegram:

if you have a telegram account, please go to settings, security and switch on the 2factor authorisation.

this will ask you a password upon installing your account on a new device / phone.

not all the time while operating, but only once.

when you have this switched on, you are VERY safe.

without this… well… forget about about safety then.

amazon, gmx, ebay and other passwords…

we all tend to want to keep it easy.

most of us use ONE password for ALL

and most of us do not change this password until its too late.

and on top, we store that password in our browser, because its sooo convinient.

believe me: I understand this.

however…

I have some recommendations.

But before let me tell you how hackers could try to get your password.

for example.

you store your passwords in the internet browser.

so its in the cookie.

a hacker could send you a link that would look good and ok

and when you click on that link, which could be a news page or a fake amazon, whatever

then this foreign website could tell your browser something like “hey, i am amazon website, please let me read your cookie for amazon website”

and your browser will let him read that cookie.

and even if you do not click anything, even if you close that page at once, it´s already too late.

the hacker will clone your cookie, go to amazon website and claim he is you.

if the hacker has one password, for one email account, he will go to the sent email and the deleted emails to learn more about you and the possible accounts linked to this email address.

so: CLEAN UP!!!!!

delete old emails in inbox, sent and trash!

it is important!!!!

and…

dont store passwords in browser…

however….

it is so important to have a convinient way to paste passwords.

i understand this.

and who wants to write down on paper a 10pager with all links and passwords.

So let my suggest you something.

you should have ONE password for every single website

not ONE  for ALL

but ONE for EACH

that makes it rather difficult for hackers, but also for you.

so let me suggest you something.

think of a phrase like

“MywifeisborninWashingtonin1990%”

then your password could be

MwisbiWi1990%

______________________________________________________

______________________________________________________

you could also make phrase like “mypasswordforthiswebsiteis” or “PeterDonaldJeffersonMayerWasBorn01.04.1990”
whatever…

then for example if you want to log in on amazon and your email address for the login is mail@usa.com

you could do a password like

mailamazonMwisbiWi1990%

or

maMwisbiWi1990%

or

MwisbiWi1990%ma

or

MwisbiWi1990%maila

______________________________________________________

just add the name of login or a part of it in front of the basic password or after the the basic password

like this you will have an easy to remember password and ONE for EACH login

so even if you might suffer from a breach of ONE login, you could be quite sure it will not lead to a desaster.

of course you could also do something like

MwisbiWi-mail-amazon-1990%ma

or

MwisbiWi-mai-ama-1990%ma

you understand the system, i am sure.

so

if all of you have such passwords with a system similar to this

perhaps a bit or a bit less complex, it will be pretty hard for hackers to find out all the data.

and please check.

for example:

I had a banking login with a password only 5 characters long, not changed for 15 (!!) years

there was no breach on this account… but hey… 😉

that was luck.

Please take this advice serious.

you do NOT want to have the trouble I had.

Luckily i got back my amazon account and nearly all others, only the telegram account still is spamblocked by telegram and the telegram survice obviously does not believe me that i was hacked.

(if any of you works for telegram please contact me via this website, perhaps you can set it free again)

😉

so.

my last question to you:

if there is a programmer among my readers here, who would be interested in solving the problem of browser stored passwords…

i have an idea, which you might be able to program.

please also contact me.

you can have all the money, i only want the licence free for me.

😉

have a great 2025

yours

Thomas
