The nerve. The audacity. The gall.
This has many people heated. We have never in the history of this country had a president who took credit for someone else’s administration.
One of Trump’s signature economic achievements was the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017, which reduced corporate tax rates from 35% to 21%. This was a major catalyst for economic growth and job creation.
During his tenure, Obama maintained higher corporate tax rates and implemented regulations that, while intended to stabilize the economy post-recession, created a more restrictive environment for businesses. There was no significant tax reform under Obama that matched the impact of Trump’s TCJA.
This was what created the environment for everything else to thrive under Donald Trump. This was the floor. The template as to what followed.
Trump launched a widespread deregulation effort, cutting red tape in industries ranging from energy to finance and manufacturing. The Trump administration eliminated 8 regulations for every new one proposed, making it easier for businesses to operate. And how did anything under B. Obama result in this?
In contrast, Obama’s administration introduced a series of stringent regulations, particularly in the energy sector (e.g., the Clean Power Plan) and financial industries (Dodd-Frank Act). These were aimed at environmental and economic stability, but outright often led to higher costs for businesses, slowing growth.
