Being religiously confused doesn’t make someone evil, only evil actions do. If a religious person is hateful and abuses others in the name of “God” they may be left behind.

Yes, they can still ascend. This is an understandable confusion for humans from the higher perspective. There is really nothing that is ‘unforgivable’ if a person sincerely has the will to change and commits fully to it.
