I am a person who has read hundreds of books of mostly fiction.
I read a lot of science fiction too but this series, called:
“The Destroyer” by Richard Shapir and Warren Murphy’s “Adventure”
They seem to have predicted various things, such as,
1) Rogue agents working “outside of the Constitution to save it” from an intrinsic villainy of the political system.
2) Tunnels under the White House.
3) Tunnels under Disney World.
4) Disney as an evil, mad person.
5) An earthquake machine.
This writing team had an unusual relationship.
Mr. Sapir would write the first 100 pages, exactly and end mid sentence sometimes.
Mr. Murphy would complete the stories.
Mr. Sapir died of a heart attack at the age of 50 and only wrote in the first 10 or so books.
The series has since gone past the 100 book mark.
I think its popularity arises from the fact that the Destroyer is a good guy.
(He works with a N. Korean assassin, trainer and master of all the fighty arts)
Now consider “White Hats” that are reputedly working behind the scenes to save the whole planet from the evil doers.
I believe (from memory) that I have indicated a strong pattern of “coincidences” here.
I am sure that any fan of this series could corroborate my observations.
Just saying…this series started in the late 80’s, fyi and still available, last I saw.
