In an Olympic contest, if the two teams competing were Meritocracy vs. Kleptocracy, who would you root for?
Answering that question will show who you are. I would root enthusiastically for Meritocracy for a few good reasons.
Meritocracy limits nepotism and favoritism, creating a healthy competition of qualified people bringing true and real progress for those with important skill sets.
It promotes stability through fairness contributing to natural diversity and inclusion by targeting abilities and qualifications to guide in development professionally.
This successfully generates a way for capable and competent leaders to make decisions on a level playing field along with an opportunity for all regardless of background or whether or not they can be controlled.
Meritocracy designs an ecosystem of excellence ushering in the greatest productivity possible resulting in performance based outcomes. This spearheads confidence in the public trust in opportunity based on merit.
It allows for different backgrounds ensuring everybody gets a chance to show off ability as opposed to a dysfunctional outside criteria.

We are talking about the most qualified for a position because of performance. This way we have tasks undertaken by those with experience and skills necessary. The outcome equals new ideas and solutions.
My opinion is that fairness comes from opportunity based on merit, period.
Growth, success and motivation comes from the qualified ones who provide a built in accountability for performance, regardless of status, offsetting the possibility of kleptocracy.
Root for either or. It’s your choice.
