This is a keeper. 36 years later, I think it may be the opening song for a concept album.

I believe I created something very special here. The song was written and recorded around 1998. The lyrics likely earlier. It was a love forlorn poem to my son’s mother. I had just gotten back from a tumultuous trip by car to California and then all the way to Florida about a month later. I was in a blizzard in the Rockies then produced the documentary I made at the Improv Comedy Club in Hollywood
Many things went wrong but I survived and sold my camera and editing equipment to Don Byner and bought a Nylon string guitar at the Hollywood guitar center and actually played while driving clear across the country. After a short time in Florida and the predictable blowout with my brother I was triangulated back to Madison Wisconsin where I bought my first 4 track dat recorder and wrote and recorded this song.
Today I resurrected it from my archives and added this brass arrangement. It really works. Then I have been piecing together a musical about a washed up old British rocker who sleeps on my couch. I hide some of my failures and triumphs in this incorrigible character named Mick McClifford. I am thinking about using him in part to be an added color for my next music compilation.
