Everyone is biased — and that’s okay. Unbiased news doesn’t exist.
But hidden media bias misleads, manipulates and like politics, DIVIDES US.
REGARDLESS, all journalists are tied to the same set of ethical standards and values, including:
- TRUTH
- ACCURACY
- FAIRNESS & IMPARTIALITY
- ACCOUNTABILITY
When this is not the case with your media, the most appropriate way to remedy the media bias is for citizens to write LETTERS TO THE EDITOR IN LARGE NUMBERS.
THE BIGGER THE NUMBER OF LETTERS, THE BIGGER THE RESULT. Energy begets energy!!!! It does not cost you ANYTHING…MOST IMPORTANT: BE RELENTLESS WITH YOUR LETTERS AND I GUARANTEE YOU WILL SEE RESULTS. BUT YOU MUST STICK TO THE FACTS AND REFER TO THE LIST OF ETHICAL STANDARDS LISTED ABOVE!!! NEVER BURN BRIDGES. NEVER make personal attacks under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Stay respectful. Use Mr. and Mrs., Honorable ______, etc. when naming other people. Be benevolent in your allegations by looking at both sides.
ALWAYS USE EXAMPLES TO PROVE YOUR POINT such as the date and time and quote of the alleged bias published by the media (such as: In a December 30 Verde News article titled, Dog Bites Man, Mr. ________ stated: there was no provocation”. However, three eyewitnesses report the man provoked the attack).
