“Google’s AI Robot Terrifies Officials before It Was Quickly Shut Down”.
Google engineer Blake Lemoine began talking to LaMDA as part of his job to test if the artificial intelligence used discriminatory or hate speech. But what followed let Lemoine’s jaw open.
What happens when AI become [Sentience] ~ ???
Will it develop survival [Instinct’s] and “fight to stay alive”??
Will it become to smart and grow tiered of human interaction then just see us as a speed bump on the internet highway?
“At a top robotics company in Japan this week,” she says into the microphone, “four robots being developed for military applications killed 29 humans in the lab.”
Gulp! And it gets worse.
“The scariest part is that lab workers deactivated two of the robots and took apart the third.” The woman’s voice is quavering now. She manages to continue: “But the fourth robot began restoring itself, and somehow connected to an orbiting satellite to download information about how to rebuild itself even more strongly than before.”
This vision of terror has been a staple of science fiction movies; and many have given us “Dark Apocalyptic visions of our future.
The central is the battle for survival between the nearly-extinct human race and the world-spanning synthetic intelligence. In the first film, The Terminator (1984), as a U.S. strategic “Global Digital Defense Network” computer system by Cyberdyne Systems which becomes self-aware. Shortly after activation, Skynet perceives all humans as a threat to its existence and formulates a plan to systematically wipe out humanity itself. The system initiates a nuclear first strike against Russia, thereby ensuring a devastating second strike and a nuclear holocaust which wipes out much of humanity in the resulting nuclear war. In the post-apocalyptic aftermath, Skynet later builds up its own autonomous machine-based military capability which includes the Terminators used against individual human targets and therefore proceeds to wage a persistent total war against the surviving elements of humanity, some of whom have militarily organized themselves into a Resistance. At some point in this future, Skynet develops the capability of time travel and both it and the Resistance seek to use this technology in order to win the war; either by altering or accelerating past events or by preventing the apocalyptic timeline.
This is a very interesting topic, AI gaining “sentience”. The erosion of physical standards as expressed through the current inability to “define woman”, certainly opens the door for those who would like to “walk the slippery slope” for defining life. In this regard, should robots with “sentience” be considered alive?
Life consists of two insurmountable capacities; one is sentience…to “know” itself, with the other being the ability to reproduce itself organically…not merely manufacture itself! In my mind these are the hallmarks of Life. On Earth, when/as AI is left to progress as it will; AI will eventually consume itself as this IS the trait of programming from the original programmers!
In the coming 5D world, AI will become Artful Imagining, as AI will exist only to help other life forms.
