The Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas – December 12. this year Dec. 12 happened to fall on a Sunday. <“Just sayin'”>
Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to Saint Juan Diego on December 9, 10 and 12, 1531.
On December 12, 1531, Juan Diego dropped the roses he had miraculously gathered at Mary’s direction before the Bishop as he let loose his cloak. What the Bishop then saw brought him to his knees. It hangs today at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Interesting fact: At any given moment, more Muslims may be kneeling before this image than Christians, as is also the case at the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, Portugal. Christians don’t pilgrimage to Mecca, however the Muslims put a high priority on pilgrimages to these Marian shrines, even though they don’t believe in the divinity of Christ, nor his crucifixion.
