Megan is not using the same words I use, but I think she is talking about what I call “Personal Inventory”:
When I was in my mid 40s I conducted a project of examining each thought I had; seeing if there was any evidence to support my thought. When I found no evidence, I rejected that thought / belief as FALSE (BS). After 18 months of this, I had NOTHING to believe in. I then made a conscious choice to only hold as true; “Those things which benefited me and others” (BOTH ARE REQUIRED). Anything counter productive was OUT!

Most people think meditation is clearing your mind. Not completely true. The point of clearing your mind is to open yourself to things being suppressed. When these memories / thoughts come forward, the next step is to resolve (complete) them. If it comes up again, “clear” it again. Resolving the past is ultimately what meditation is about. When our past “Guilt” is clear, then also is our future “Fears”. We are Guilty about the past and Fearful of the future. When both are clear, we are in NOW (present).
I don’t recommend telling your ego or negative entities to “F” off. I say to myself; “Thank you for shearing.” and ignore the negative input. “There is no place for death to enter.” – The Tao (Way)
