No matter how hard it has been, I would not swap what I am doing, where I am doing it, with whom I am, or when I am here… not for anything. It is so very fulfilling to be able to stand alongside the best of humanity in this “trench warfare of the psyche” facing the worst of humanity — and #WINNING. I know it gets very dark before the light floods in, and the art of war makes it necessary for the situation to seem hopeless before it becomes victorious. The longer I fight, the more inner peace I have, for I have chosen the path of standing for something and sticking to it through any adversity. I feel stronger than ever, more contented in what I have, and joyful in being alive.
So many brothers and sisters in the fight, whose homes are open to each other, larders shared with each other, time given to each other. Many of us are discovering the meaning of love, and not in the way we ever anticipated or sought. Meanwhile our blood families may wobble and falter; our old friends slink away; our worthless social repute discarded. Possessions, professions, properties — lost along the way. None of it matters. Truth, integrity, honour. Those can’t be taxed or taken.
We can’t hug or squeeze hands via social media (it’s not very social, is it?!) — but we can still feel the shared warmth of our hearts via our choice words and pictures. Digital warfare is physically comfortable, yet is often frighteningly lonely, full of silent grief, and rife with risk of despair. Then comes some cartoonish newsletter, some thoughtful instant message, some amusingly dark humorous meme… and the connection to the collective endeavour is re-established.
Love you all here, love doing what I do, love the movement we have built — and what we have achieved together.

I am very grateful to Martin for penning those beautiful words about our Light Warrior journey. I relate to those moments of feeling ‘frighteningly lonely’ and ‘full of silent grief’. I am deeply affected by images and videos of distressed child victims of this terrible war. It is the children that we are working for. They are helpless – we are not. We do it for them.
Like Martin, I appreciate the brilliant dark humor in memes, videos and images. Thank goodness we can still see the funny side of this movie!
