Man in ‘serious’ condition after University Neighborhood shooting, Syracuse police say. Updated Oct 23, 2020; Posted Oct 23, 2020

I knew this guy and was I guess a short sleve friend..his name was Steve..I had hired him some years before to do some painting in the basement of a house I was remodeling. He’d just gotten out of prison while I was on the job.. and living across the street at his moms. He was dead at the seen. It was over $10 of weed. He had just had funeral services for his mom the day before. “Teen killed man during botched marijuana robbery in Westcott apartment, police say

“A teenager pointed a gun at a Syracuse man last week, police said, and made a demand: Turn over your weed. When the man refused, the gun-wielding teenager fired — shooting the man, police said. The shooter, Curtez McLauren, 17, and his two codefendants then fled, a detective with the Syracuse Police Department said..” (Steve’s girlfriend was able to ID the guy)

The Westcott murder happened only hours before another murder blocks away, in the 2000 block of East Fayette Street. That’s also the location where McLauren was arrested. It’s where a large apartment complex, Parkside Commons, is located. In the second murder, Hakeem Phillips, 31, was killed around 10 p.m. Friday. No arrest has been announced in that case. As of now, it’s unknown if the two murders are related, Fitzpatrick said.

“Man shot on Syracuse’s East Side has died; second homicide victim in 1 day” Syracuse man charged with killing 31-year-old CNY man in late October.

McLauren was already wanted in the Hope Avenue stabbing at the time of Friday’s murder. He is accused of assault, robbery, grand larceny and illegal weapon possession in that Sept. 15 case.

31 people were murdered in Syracuse in 2020:

I think there are more youths..maybe they show them in the 31 people killed last year.
