2 poems relating to what has been going on in our world
– and coming out the other side of it all – COGNIZANT 1 and 2 –
COGNIZANT 1
Hey man, what ya think you’re gonna feel
inside your head when you’re running
in the weird world spreading down the streets
and out into the countryside, that’s like a map
of all the little pieces opening up inside?
Why don’t you stop and breathe a while,
put your hand upon your heart and let it speak?
Maybe you could decide on some nice place to be,
take your time, if you need to wrestle some kind
of peace deal from all the sinew bleeding?
If you let it lie a little while and take slow steps
with open eyes, listening to a few new freaky lines
knitted from frayed strands of old ones – to make a
sort of sense, maybe you can trust the dance forwards –
write a new song for yourself to climb into.
Perhaps friends and answers will come to you
in the search for how to live in this transient time –
always searching and finding who you are each day.
There’s always a new machine to drive and make
music happen until the logs settle in the fire.
There are stories and stories to discover & tell to yourself
& others while you find your way into consciousnesss
deeper than even you could ever imagine –
although you will begin to live in it – inevitably –
even if you keep kicking stones down that long long road.

In shattered landscapes, cobwebs slide
down sides of castles fallen,
where the eyes have mostly left,
for they can no longer open without life.
The inhabitants have gone for punishment
for all the wrongs they meted out upon
the innocent, some of whom can now survive,
rescued from repeating history this precious time,
now building from new roots, fresh trees,
clean leaves – of forest – and book.
What distance have you covered so far
in this epic journey of especial discovery?
Looking sideways, looking sideways, and for more
other ways to look as new dimensions slide in upon us,
between the old, above and underneath,
and all around too, layered like never before.
When you thought you were walking out the door,
to then find yourself coming back in again
from a slightly different angle – or indeed perhaps
weaving, knotting, unknotting, striving to slip free.
New and old history all tangled and untangling
as we grapple with what it might mean, as truth swells
from fringes to middle then ripples back
like a huge tide that has well and truly turned –
for humanity to now decide what to make of it,
whether actively helping to shape the way forward –
or whether just going along for the ride –
or perhaps being dragged along a bit in the waves,
the dirty stream, not sure whether all the fish and debris
are flowing with you or against you.
Swim – or step, step. Swing your ams and legs
like a clock ticking as we move through histories & futures
as if they are all going in the same direction,
yet spinning awkwardly round as we turn to glance back.
Don’t be afraid – the change won’t actually swallow you –
but will make you think all sorts of strange things
about what went wrong and why so many didn’t even know.
Hot and cold reflections appear and disappear
in the halls of mountains and kings, even sweating,
until you realise it might be time to move on.
Just continue when you’re ready – much awaits to amaze.
Even your own body can be entirely healed, and so much more.
Seems rather appealing to get up every morning to –
don’t you think – deciding what to do as we explore possibilities
only genuises could have dreamed of before.
Now we are all geniuses – having the means to create,
use, imagine, to vastly expand horizons.
We could turn our hands to whatever we decide to do,
we could dream up a whole load of delightful tricks!
Let’s see what it will be like to live outside the jaded old matrix.
Anything could be possible – so who are you?!?
Who were you in the last minute, then who did you become
with each step, and who are you now as you keep moving on?
Perhaps this will be a forever process of learning
as we are all becoming a new humanity, side by side –
open – expanding into new realities…..
Imagine magnificence – as each one of us dreams freely,
experiences our new world and new selves fully.
So who are you now, and who do your really want to be?
What do you want to do in this new vastness?

Does it feel like you’re coming out of some long
section of Plato’s cave, with your skeleton and joints
cracking to allow for expansion – your body and brain
readying for more layers of DNA, more levels of heart & mind?
What are we going to find beyond the cave in the desert?
Will we soon reach the edges, where trees begin,
and streams lead down to the sparkling sea,
away from barren rock and sand at last, even though
it has been a protection of sorts, we no longer need that.
We need to be able to see forever!
We, both collectively and individually –
can climb out of the nefarious old movie house
seats, to discover what really has been going on
behind the screen, even outside – or up
in the sky, we might say, considering how
the robber barons looked down on us for so long.
Now we can lollop and frollick in fine fertile fields
& orchards – about to taste the fruits available
to all of us good people in the REAL garden.
Whether knowingly or not, we are evolving!
