(Reader: GK) The Hollywood Pitch and Olive Branch

Reader Post | By GK

I am not reaching out to those who commit evil. You know who you are. I am not sure who is who. I am hoping that there are some folks in power positions in studios or agencies holding dinar and watching this site, that will watch my movie today and consider this pitch. And who are not of the evil variety. Just people lucky enough to make movies.

In 1963 the United Artist producer Walter Shenson knew The Beatles were hot and at that time, might be a flash in the pan. But they were dominating the pop music charts so a soundtrack album was the goal, not Citizen Kane.

However, I think it was Roger Ebert who said that “A Hard Day’s Night was the Citizen Kane of JukeBox movies.” And I agree, it is my favorite film of all time.

One can see its influence on this little movie here.

My pitch is the same, a sort of Buster Keaton, Harold Loyd, Charlie Chaplin, spy spoof with physical slapstick action set to some of the greatest pop hits of the 60s and 70s.

My film here is the template, the blueprint, the script. A remake today with two good looking athletic young 19 year old male actors to perform the physical comedy which will be the visual stimulation that accompanies such feel good hits as Reelin’ in the Years by Steely Dan.

True nostalgic sentiment can be woven into the visuals as our world really is set inside a framework of classic rock and all the love and memories, some painful, that our decades on Earth have injected into our souls.

A bubble gum movie that is surprisingly full of heart.

The Soundtrack Album is ripe for big sales and the film concept itself can easily be low budget with a marketing campaign that includes the story behind the story — namely the original movie made in 1979 by the Deerfield High School senior year class.

Let’s do lunch.
